The battle between Karasuma and The Grim Reaper continues. The Grim Reaper sets several traps and Karasuma easily overcomes them. Even after Irina betrayed Karasuma and the students, Karasuma still protects her from harm. Karasuma pulls The Grim Reaper into a smaller room to make the fight up-close and personal. The Grim Reaper’s and Karasuma’s final battle is here. After the battle, Koro Sensei mentors the students on potential career goals. The students all have reasonable career goals, except for Nagisa. Nagisa would like to pursue a career in assassination. Nagisa’s mother, Hiromi, doesn’t want Nagisa to be a part of class 3-E any longer and plans to meet with Koro Sensei to have him transferred. After her meeting with Koro Sensei, Hiromi loses her patience with Nagisa and decides to take things into her own hands.

Almost too much happened in this volume. From the fight between The Grim Reaper and Karasuma, to Koro Sensei’s humorous career counseling, all the way to the fiery entrance of Nagisa’s mother. I couldn’t put this volume down and easily read it from cover to cover. I loved everything about this volume.

Karasuma still amazes me with his skills and abilities. His fight with The Grim Reaper was nothing short of monumental. In all honesty, there were a few parts where I had thought that it was all over for him. Without his quick thinking and assistance from Koro Sensei, who knows what could have happened to him.

We get a much closer look at Irina’s past. Up until know we have known that she was training to be an assassin even at a young age. Now we know why she became an assassin and the reason is heartbreaking. It is much easier to see why she acts the way she does after finding out about all the hardship that she has faced. I am glad she is welcome among the students of 3-E once more.

Nagisa continues to develop even further and now recognizes his skills as an assassin. Nagisa possesses the needed abilities skills to become an accomplished assassin and isn’t sure if he should hone and develop those skills. Koro Sensei also recognizes these skills in Nagisa and plans to help him develop further and achieve his goals. It would be amazing to have been able to watch a character go from a quiet, unassuming student, all the way to master assassin.

This volume was perfect, in my opinion. This volume is following the trend was set before it and is covering all its bases. Just enough action, plenty of story, and several character developments. Not a single aspect was missed in this volume. I can’t wait to continue the series and I am excited to see how far the students go. Assassination Classroom volume 13 was a perfect read.
