The Straw Hat crew is doing their best to survive the dangerous island known as Little Garden. Things are about to get even more dangerous for the Straw Hat crew as members of Baroque Works have followed them to the island and they plan to finish what they started. Dorry and Broggy continue their hundred-year-old fight but their most epic battle is cut short due to the underhanded tactics of Baroque Works. One by one Luffy’s crewmates are taken captive by Mr. 3 and Mr. 5. Luffy confronts the members of Baroque Works to save his crew from a most terrible fate.

This volume invoked many emotions. Frustration and sadness being the biggest ones. The fight between Mr. 3 and Luffy is nothing short of the most infuriating fights I have ever seen. Even when Luffy has Mr. 3 on the ropes, then Ms. Golden Week steps in and uses her ridiculous power to stop Luffy. What is worst of all about these villains is that they spiked the ale that was given to one of the giants and nearly killed him. The agents of Baroque Works truly are the most deplorable people in the world and will do whatever they need to do to assure their victory. I can’t wait until Luffy puts an end to them.

The story moved on just a bit in this volume. Not much happens but at the end of the volume Sanji speaks with someone on the snail-o-phone that is claiming to be Mr. Zero. Aside from that and the fights between the Straw Hat crew and Baroque Works nothing else happened. This wasn’t bad volume by any means I was just hoping that Luffy and his crew would be getting off the island and move on to their next destination.

Luffy proves once again than that by using sheer will and determination you can accomplish anything, or in his case if you hit it hard enough it will break. That was the case here when Luffy had to put everything he had into breaking Mr. 3’s candelabra. The fight between Luffy and Mr. 3 was the longest fight Luffy has had up to this point. The fight was huge and action packed to say the least. It just seemed that no matter what Luffy was on the losing end of the fight. This is also the only fight this far where almost everyone has Devil Fruit ability.

This was one of the lower points in the series. Again, that is not a bad thing as volumes like this are sure to happen in any series and I’m sure that they will happen again in this series. I am still hopeful for the future of this series and can’t wait to continue reading. This volume was still interesting enough and provided a lot of content. Though a low point, One Piece volume 14 was still a great read.
